Deschutes River Ale Release Celebration

DeschutesRiverAle_logo_1Sweet Water at the Valley River Inn hosted the Deschutes River Ale Release Celebration tonight. Celebrating the release of the session beer. The beer was light bodied and refreshing. Perfect for drinking in the sun by the water. Hence the theme. Here is a quick rundown of the beer from Deschutes.

Here’s one that’s clean and refreshing enough for the long haul, but fully graced with hop aroma, malt heft and clear craft passion. Sit back, relax, and let the subtle pleasures reveal.

 Alc. 4% | IBUs 28 140 Calories, 12 oz serving

Malt: Pale, Munich, Carapils, Crystal

Hops: Cascade, Crystal, Nugget

The event was filled with Deschutes reps, distributors, and local bar owners enjoying the release. River themed giveaways such as floatation devices and fishing gear were raffled off. Along with the grand prizes of three Epiphone guitars.

The best part of the event was being able to try the beer both on tap and in bottle. Giving me a better idea of what my actual experience with the beer would be like. On tap the beer felt lighter, but still retained easy drinkability in bottle. Overall a fun time along the Willamette River with a very enjoyable beer. Only winning a guitar could have made it better.

The Deschutes web site lists this beer to be paired with such dishes as Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict or Cobb Salad with Warm Bacon Vinaigrette. I recommend pairing the ale with the sun, a camp fire, and some freshly caught fish.
